Every day another news article comes out discussing the problems between rent prices and wage earners, causing more people to become homeless. Further adding to the already official “crisis” in our city and county and my guess it this is not just an issue our county is having, as now the news reports are showing areas of Orange county now impacted by the large amounts of homeless encampments. One finger pointed at the other, who is at fault. The city of LA has gone on to hire even more tow companies to impound the homeless persons mobile home, in my eyes, violating their 4th amendment right.
I was invited to this amazing think tank at LA Trade Tech by a garden friend of mine. I sat next to the amazing William “Mickey” Stevenson of Motown fame, as well as a myriad of others who took part in the truce between LA gangs in the 90s. We discussed architecture in open spaces, saw drafts of kinetic stages for open spaces in LA. I heard from people sharing their projects. My project is a little different, my project is not based in any one city, county or state. That made me a bit nervous, not knowing how people would take this project. I spewed out the details of the project with such excitement and passion that a row of women sitting across from me in this big room, stood up and applauded me. Wow! that was powerful. People handed me their business cards. I was reaffirmed in my belief that this is the right path for me to be on. I have some hurdles to overcome and some serious funding and partnerships to put in place to support the stages of the project. Today I know that continuing on this path will bring to fruition a program.
Finding purpose, creates drive and desire. What I have found since I started this blog with this idea is the purpose my life was missing. It has given me so much drive and desire to get this done and to bring it to the people. The impact to the organic farm community of having an influx of labor now ready to jump in and start a new life. Intentional communities looking for help can find new community members for short or long term. I feel re-energized in life today now that I have this amazing project running thru my veins. The vibrations have risen and I totally see a solution that will impact not only a percent of the homeless but others as well. People underpaid and underemployed struggling and stuck in a cycle they cannot get out from under. I know how it is. I am there now. It will kill me early if I keep going down this same road. Time to change my life to save my life.
