41% percent of Americans will have some form of Cancer. Some will die from it without ever even knowing they had anything wrong with them, till the last few days, like my late Grandmother and Uncle. We expect to live to between 76 and 81 years old, based on certain factors of course male versus female, smoker… you get the point. Retirement is 65 (2018). Most of us start working between what ages 16-24. Sadly, some of us will die younger. I have seen large numbers of my younger friends on social media who are struggling with disease.
Looking at all the numbers, it appears to me that we spend our lives in school or working and being ill. Or we work so long that when we do retire, our bodies are spent or diseased and we cannot do what we once could. Plus we can always get hit by a bus any day right. What all of this makes me realize is that at my current age, right in between my birth and “expected” death cycle, in the midst of a Diabetic epidemic and a 41% chance of getting Cancer.
It is time for a change in my life, to save my life! Whose with me?
What stands between the life I desire to have and the life I have, which I am humbled and grateful for. The means! Simply the access to a vehicle that I could use to travel in and live in. To begin the journey, I need some wheels.
The craziest part of all of my own vehicle woes, has been learning about the Homeless population in Los Angeles, there is an estimated 2400 RVs owned by the homeless on the streets. The dilemma for the city? The city had 3 companies that did the dirty work of towing and impounding, 2 of which have now said they will no longer pick these RVs up due to expenses and sanitation issues and the 3rd lone company is too overwhelmed to keep up. This to me is a blatant violation of the persons rights under unlawful search and seizures, good ole number 4. I have a better idea.
Why not spend the money, time and effort on helping rather then hindering these people. Let’s get the RVs safe to drive and get the owner legal to drive. I know that PATH and DMV already do fee waivers. And I know certain cities like mine, have said in the past, if a homeless persons’ vehicle breaks down in the city, they will send it to the city yard to get repaired so the person can continue on. Why could we not take that same spirit and apply it to the current RVs that these people own and are in impound and then teach them how to create independence and freedom and how to tour the country, working when they wanted and needed to at organic farms. Being supported by a network of people across the country.
When I am out near LAX with those living on the streets in tents and RVs and I tell them about the possibilities and the hard honest work and good fresh farm food, their eyes light up. Last month one guy, Mike, even said he would go right now and do it. Today during our visit, I found out that the city towed Mikes vehicle for lack of registration.
If we spent the same effort and money toward the good rather then the bad, we could lift people up rather then kick them when they are down.
Could you imagine the benefits on their health both physically and psychologically. Saving my own life and maybe saving some others as well. This adventure is all about cutting the path and sharing it along the way for others to join me.
Let’s find out what really matters in life, before it’s to late.
