I was thinking about this today. I need to fund raise for my project to get the program going but the actual amount of “money” could be far less if we actually do this together. I started thinking how can we do this together within the confines of the money system.
Some cities have their employees volunteer. For example the past 2 years I have volunteered with Beach Cities Heath District with their annual Volunteer day. This event is held on a week day for the first half of the day. I noticed that most everyone there was representing a group. City workers, police officers, political staffers for local politicians, clubs like the Kiwanis and local non profits like ours, Immortal YOU Foundation. This got my gears turning today.
What if the city mechanics “volunteered” by doing a brake job or replacing a transmission on one of the RVs in our program. What if the police or fire dept “volunteered” by teaching our people CPR or CERT . What if the carpenters or contractor “volunteered” fixing and renovating the RVs adding solar panels etc.
Sometimes we think we need everyone to donate “money” for us to succeed. When I ask to “fund” raise, I may need a different word, I need to “community” raise, “volunteer” raise. You see that with just some tweaks to the system, we could get this all done for very little “money”
All it takes is the willingness to participate.
PS I have met with some politicians and things may develop from those meetings. I have a radio interview coming up as well.
